Applicability of supreme court judgements

10 May 2014 Dear Sir/Madam,

Does a Supreme Court Judgement have retrospective effect? E.G. can a Supreme court judgement of 2014 be quoted in a case of say Assessment year 2010-11?

Please refer a relevant case law or any legislation.

10 May 2014 depends on the question involved. a recent judgment shall have equally authoritative value as a past judgment

14 May 2014 Sir, my question is about the effect of a supreme court judgement. Article 141 says that a supreme court judgement becomes the law. does it have a retrospective effect? or prospective effect.
