Applicability of Service tax on distributor or Retailer

01 August 2010 Pls guide, if a person dealing in a business where service tax is applicable but he is the retailer or distributor of a Company for that ( Say, Mobile Company) then will he has any liability towards service tax and for service tax registration or not

02 August 2010 No I dont think so that the retailer or distributor will be liable to service tax. They are not providing any kind of services to the customers. Its the company who is providing the services therefore liable for service tax. Experts plz suggest if there is any other opinion.
