1. Applicability of ESI

I was getting a Gross Salary of 12000 (Basic : 10800, Medical Allowance : 300, Other Allowance : 900). My ESI Rs. 210 was deducted.

I have been promoted, and now get a Gross Salary of 15060 (Basic:6000, GP:2400,DA:3780,HRA:1680,Medical Allowance : 300, Other Allowance : 900)Still Rs.263 is being deducted from my salary.

WHY ESI IS STILL APPLICABLE ON ME ?

2. Applicability of Professional Tax

An amount of Rs. 125 has been deducted as PT.

WHY, I DONT COME UNDER TAX BRACKET ;if Rs. 2 Lc ?

Please Provide your experts guidance.

02 August 2013 ESI applicable those are having gross salary Rs.15000 or below,so you can ask your payroll team to correct.

Professional tax not linked with Income tax,PT governed by separate act under state PT act, based on the salary slab it will apply.

03 August 2013 Hi,

For ESI there is two eligible period, Apr to Sep and Oct to Mar.

So suppose in Apr your ESI Eligible Salary was less than 15k & after that yo got hike & yor eligible salary crossed 15k then also untill Sep ESI contribution will be deducted from your salary.

So once your ESI is deducted then atleast for Six months ESI will be deducted from your salary.

03 August 2013 Under Orissa State Tax on Professions tax act.

Person salary more than Rs.1.60 lakh to Rs. 3.00 lakhs per annum PT apply Rs.125 per month
