when should excise is must applicable in a manufacturing company

When Manufacturing exciseable goods.but even exempted goods also registration required

Basically the excise duty is levied on the manufacturing activity as such where the manufacturing activity is being carried out, the registration is required. However there is threshold limit of 1.5 crore turnover whichis called SSI exemption, these units need not required to take registration.
