Appeal before CIT in case on Individual

26 June 2011 Can CA having no certificate of practice be able to appear for hearing in appeal before CIT in case of individual.

Please advise w.r.t section 288 of the income tax act. Is COP a pre-requisite for hearing in Income Tax

26 June 2011 According to Section 288, the requirement for authorised representative is a chartered accountant. In my view, it is not required that he must be having a COP.
Even a CA in service can also represent a case before an IT Authority.
