18 August 2011 Dear friends.
one of our client, that is A ltd, they are paying food allowance to employees Rs. 8000 pa. But another one that is A1 ltd, they are paying Rs. 21000. pa. They want to know till what exact they can pay

18 August 2011 Food Allowance without supported by Food is taxable.

If Food or lunch is provided during working hours -cost to employer up to Rs. 50/- per meal is exempt. Suppose cost to employer is Rs. 70/ meal Rs. 20 will be taxable perquisite.
