ONE OF OUR PRIVATE LIMITED COMPANY HELD ITS AGM ON 09/09/2011 (THIRUVONAM-PUBLIC HOLIDAY FOR KERALA). IS IT A PUBLIC HOLIDAY AS PER SEC 166 OF THE COMPANIES ACT, 1956.

Yes 9/9/2011 was a public holiday for the purpose of section 166 of the companies act,1956 since that day was declared as a public holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act,1881.

public holiday refer to the holiday under Negotiable instruments Act, 1881. If the AGM is held on this day..it would be taken as a default.
