08 April 2015 Dear expert please advice me, i am a contractor and i have done a online payment of service tax amounting rs , 56700/- but due to unawareness the service tax amount has been done in Education cess accounts head i.e. 0426, instead of service tax accounting code.please tell me how to rectify this mistake.

09 April 2015 Please contact the bank with a rectification letter. If 7 days have not passed, they may rectify it.

If that does not help, write a letter to the AC of your Service tax division to rectify the code.
