Is there any specific mode of effecting payment while making a fixed deposit with a company ie., is it essential that the depositor makes payment by an instrument.

It would be good for investor to pay the amount of deposit through cheque for future reference.
Further Deposit rules 1975 make provision of receipt to the depositor. So do not forget to collect the receipt of deposit from the company officials.
