07 April 2016 From AY 2016-17. 80D deduction for self and spouse increased from Rs.15000 to Rs 25000 and for Parents from Rs.20000 to Rs 30000/- Total benefit increased from Rs.35000 to Rs 55000u/s 80D.

For self,spouse, For parents Total
dependent children
For no-one attained the age of 60 years - Rs 15,000 15000 30000
Assessee and his family under 60
and parents above 60 years 15000 20000 35000
Assessee, his family and parents attained
the age of 60 years and above - 20000 20000 40000
