when TDS is deducted in case of interest on fixed deposit ?

At the time of credit or payment whichever is earlier.
01 July 2009
TDS will be deducted at the time of credit of such interest to the Account of payee/interest payable account/Suspence A/c or at the time of payment by cash, cheque, draft or any other mode... whichever is earlier.
