Hello Friends,

I saw 1 hotel Bill , Hotel is Charging the Delhi Vat Amount & Service Tax on the same amount , how Hotel can charge the Delhi Vat & Service Tax on the same amount

from 25-04-2011 service tax is applicable on such services, alongwith with vat, read the above link to understand.

but how Govt can charge VAT & Service Tax on Gross Amount it added to our cost

VAT is the Expense for us

i think that's not fare

Previously Service tax is charged only on the service charges not on gross amount but as per this Notification service tax is charged on gross amount

24 December 2011 its not charged on all resturents, but on resturents which are airconditioned and where liquer is served. so when ppl use to go to such resturents govt feels that they can afford little more on name of service tax.
