17 June 2011 respected sir,

one of my client who is paying housing loan.and regitry is in the name of wife
and my client name is after wife name. what is the tax treatment fgive suggestion to me

17 June 2011 In Gujarat it happens so.

The name of a lady is written as ...

"SUMITRABEN DASHRATHBHAI KHANDWALA."
Is it like so???

Husband will not get benefit, unless he is a co-borrower with his wife and shows property in his personal balance sheet.

The husband can claim tax benefits in the above case as he is a co-owner of the property and making repayment.

17 June 2011 your client is paying home loan
and his name in registry paper is after his wife's name. It means he is a co owner.
your client can claim tax benefits
and
if her wife's name is also in home loan than any one can claim tax benefits.
IT EITHER YOUR CLIENT OR HIS WIFE.
