Hai Everyone,
Please clarify my query
A person quoted wrong pan( Last letter 'P' instead of 'D') in the self assessment tax payment challan. After some period while assessing, department sent him due notice to pay tax.
Is there any way to get that amount paid to his credit.

Dear Aravind,
First he need to discuss with bank where he paid tax amount. Then correct the challan.

According to me you should approach to ITO with fact and with original challan and request him to rectified the same. There is no need to revised return

According to me Bimal Thacker Sir is correct. There is no need to file revised return. You should intimate the concerned ITO and explain him the facts.

Before going to ITO, speak with the Banker that at the time of self assessment tax payment, you had mentioned the wrong PAN & wants to correct (take a PAN photocopy), if everything goes right, ok.
Otherwise as experts told, write a letter to ITO indicating there the fact of wrong PAN quoted at the time of self assessment & show the original payment challan.
NO NEED TO FILE ANY REVISED RETURN.
