Withdrawal of PF Contribution

One of my friend is employed in a unit which is covered by the PF Act. PF has been deducted from his salary for the last eight months. Now he wants to leave the employment. Please let me know whether the amount deposited in PF and FPF account can be withdrawn. Is there any minimum period of membership required for withdrawal of the contributions. Please explain in detail

At the time of leaving the service, if he is not joining other service in next 6 months, amount may be withdrwan.
