I had to withdraw amount of Rs.24000. I issued a cheque of self of Rs.24000 and on the backside authorise a person to receive on my behalf.
Can that person receive cash on my behalf if i have to withdraw from other branch of bank? ( i have account in k.gate but have to withdraw in south extn)

In this case it differs from bank to bank as per their procedures. In many banks account holder can only withdraw money from branches other than the base branch
