What is a procedure to start consulting business

21 December 2009 I am heading a medium engineering company as President-Operations and want to take VRS and start own Consulting Business. My present company will be one of the client and I have few more proposal for this.

I want to know that what is the procedure for this? Do I require to register some where? How will I handle my IT related issues.

Please refer me to some formal Procedure on this.

21 December 2009 Without doing any formalities; you can start the consultancy in your name or you can open one proprietory concern like Anonymous & Co.

Apply for profession tax if applicable in your state.

If total receipts of consultancy crosses Rs.9.00 Lacs; you have to register yourself for service tax.
