It is not discontinued. Those who have migrated to gst w.e.f. 1st July2017, were required to have this upto June 2017 if applicable and thereafter under gst.
For others who are still under vat, it is going to continue.
Since VAT is a state subject, you may refer the specific state website to look for notification if any.
