02 August 2025 For **IPCC registration**, the validity period is indeed a bit different from PE (Preliminary Exam) and PCC (Practical Training) registrations.

### Key points:

* **IPCC registration validity** is **5 years** from the date of registration.
* This is mentioned in ICAI guidelines, which say you must clear the IPCC within 5 years of registration.
* If you do not clear within this period, you will **need to re-register** for IPCC.

---

### Your case:

* Registered on **3rd January 2011**
* Attempted exams in **Nov 2011** and **May 2012**
* 5 years from registration would end on **2nd January 2016**

So, **your IPCC registration would have expired on 2nd Jan 2016**.

---

### Action to take:

* If you have **not cleared the IPCC** within 5 years, you need to **re-register for IPCC** to appear for the exams further.
* You can contact ICAI directly or check their official website for the exact process of re-registration.

---

### Clarification on your doubt about 4 years:

* The standard validity is **5 years**, but sometimes students are advised by coaching centers based on their preparation plan. Officially ICAI gives 5 years.
