Validity of comprehensive questionnaire in air only scrutiny

This query is : Resolved

23 July 2013 Case was selected for scrutiny with the remark "AIR ONLY". Notice u/s 143(2) is

specifically stamped with the remark.
Now the A O has issued notice u/s 142(1); with the lengthy questionnaire containing

more than 40 questions covering all the aspectes of the assessee's personal and

business activities.
Whether the questionnaire of this huge scope in "AIR Only" scrutiny required.

Whether it is really valid in the light of CBDT instructions w.r.t. such scrutiny

assessments dtd. 08/09/2010.
Should the assessee comply with such questionnaire?
Note:- Notice u/s 142 (1) is signed by AO but the questionnaire bears only office stamp

and no signature. Is this valid questionnaire?
Thanks in advance.

23 July 2013 If such notice is duly signed and stamped by the jurisdictional A.O then even if such questionnaire is not signed but annexed to such signed notice then its valid notice.

AIR means Annual information report.
