I am in a Dilemma regarding doing articleship from a top firm or a mediocre firm....just tell me advantages and limitations....of both
at the time of articleship
during the job
as well as if i opt for practice......Thanks

20 May 2008 Doing articleship in small or big firm has got its own set of advantage and disadvantage. If you are academically strong you can join a big firm as the time available for studies could be limited. If you are able to manage most of your preparation during the leave provided for exam then you can opt for this. If you are not academically very strong then you can choose a small firm as you will get exposure as well as time to study. Apart from this you can also attend requisite classes. For CA exam attending class is not a bad thing as the syllabus is wide and the more knowledge you gain the more advantageous it is. The decision is tough. You have to take a call. Small or big firm choose the right firm ie the firm which meets your expectations. Hence spend some time in understanding about the firm before joining by enquiring with the people already working with them.
