Tds on transportatin charges

04 January 2018 Whether TDS should be deducted on Transportation Charges ( Inward & Outward both ) ? I have received a bill from my transporter of Rs 77,000 but the transporter has asked me not to deduct TDS. The transporter has clarified that the transportation charges are 100% exempt from TDS deduction. Please guide me and oblige.

04 January 2018 Transportation charges are exempt from TDS provided that the transporter gives a declaration that he doesn’t own more than 10 goods carriages and also provides his PAN.
