29 April 2013 In this issue my opinion is, ABC Trust is the Tax audit assessee and the XYZ B.Ed college and EFG Commerce College are its units. As per Incometax provisions an assessee who comes under TAX AUDIT in a year he must obtain TAN and deduct TDS accordingly in the coming year. So here ABC Trust is the assessee and its unit’s income are consolidated in the Trust head and Incometax return filed on Trust PAN. So TAN should be in the name of Trust only, and TDS deductible in its various units are should be dealt with Trust name and TAN.
