Please tell me the procedure for calculation for tds on salary

18 December 2012 tds on salary is calculated on estimated salary for the year by applying the tax rate as per applicable slab rate.

the tax payable calculated is divided by 12 for calculating monthly tds.

18 December 2012 Thank you Manish and Vaibha. but when i have verified some organisation payrolls they were deducting tds on the basis of the gross total income of the employee( cal GTI of employee/12 )as TDS. Is any procedure like that.

18 December 2012 Yes, its like that 12 months gross total income less exemption u/s10 less deduction under chapter VIA.

On balance tax to be computed which is to be divided with no. of months left in financial year including month of salary payment.
