Tds on rent

02 August 2011 Sir,

We have an office given to the Bank on rent, which we issue invoice every month for rent, now we had issued feb-2011 & mar-2011 invoices in the month of May-2011.

The Bank is saying they want issue TDS Certificate in F.Y. 2010-2011 as the invoices were issued in May-2011 and the same hence TDS certifcate will be issued as per Invoices date and no Provision will be made in F.Y. 2010-11 for rent invoices of Feb-2011 & Mar-2011.

Can we ask the Bank to give the TDS certificate in F.Y. 2010-11 as rent is a continous service and not related to particular day transaction.

Please guide....
