Tds on printing job

27 April 2012 Respected Sirs,
Kindly advice me with proper justification.
Our co.(PVT. Ltd.) Has given an order to print letter head, visiting card and other company register etc. to a vendor. The said vendor raise their invoice by charging applicable vat at the time of supply of above materials. Are we liable to deduct TDS under under TDS on contract job.

01 June 2012 Refer Circular 715 (1995) which states that TDS u/s 194C shall be attracted in case of supply of printed material as per prescribed specification. In your case, it is printing of letted head/visiting card which will be obviously according to prescibed specifications. This circular does not discreminate whether vat charged or not. So as per my opinion TDS shall be on whole amt as jobwork amt not shown separately.
