Dear sir,
Is TDS is to be deducted on contractor for loading & unloading contract after 1.10.09? As my client is considering it as a Transportor.

In my opinion, TDS would be applicable under section 194C as the services in question is not of freight but its of "loading & unloading charges".
In my view, if a transporter, provides services other than carrying goods, then the exemption available in the ambit of transporter under 194C, will not apply.

Yes, Section 194C will be applicable on contractor for loading & unloading contract. It is different from transporation activities.
