05 September 2013 We are conducting a conference for which we are charging participation fee. Do they have to withhold TDS while making payment towards fee. Please let me know ASAP.
1) There is no sponsorship which we are taking
2) There is no advertisement involved.

If the answer is yes then how will participants who are doing online registration will withhold TDS?

In nutshell can we take a stand that TDS is not applicable as this is one of the event we are doing and its not our profession.

No TDS is to be deducted. I think there is a judgement of the Delhi Tribunal on this matter

05 September 2013 What if we have some sponsorship from one or two companies?
Do they need to withhold TDS only on sponsorship amount or on total amount including participation fee?

05 September 2013 If the agreement is for advertisement, TDS will be attracted in terms of Circular No Circular No. 715, dated 8-8-1995.. this deduction will be under section 194C of the Income Tax Act
