04 February 2014 Hi, Myself Ankur Garg, working in a event management company and my query is that should company ask from a new joinee for his income from previous employer, and if an employee does not want to declare the income earned from previous employer than what liablity could be arrived on the company..kindly advise

04 February 2014 Yes it is mandatory to declare the income earned from the previous employer and in case you do not want to disclose the same then you have to give an undertaking that you were unemployed and there is no Income Tax liability due from you. The new company will take only the salary paid by it. The company may also ask you to give the copy of AS 26 which can be taken from the NSDL site against your PAN Number.
