04 February 2014 A Govt.Officer, Who is also the disbursement officer, received his full salary from Govt Treasury through bank transfer,by furnishing a true monthly Salary statement but without any TDS. No other subordinate's salary is liable for TDS. He himself deposited his TDS on his TAN and accordingly filed TDS returns in time. MY question is whether there is anything wrong happened by not getting the TDS through treasury and depositing it directly. If yes then what is the remedy.

04 February 2014 The TDS is to be deducted by the employer and the treasury is not the employer therefore, treasury cannot deduct the TDS hence presently whatever is being done is correct

07 February 2014 Thanks for the guidance. But the D O is afraid of an action from his super Boss for NO deduction of Tax at source by the Treasury.
