Taxability of stipend ????

16 June 2010 I m confused whether the stipend recd. during articleship is taxable or not ?????

https://www.caclubindia.com/experts/taxability-of-stipend-received-during-articleship-326975.asp - "It CLARIFIES THAT IT IS NOT TAXABLE......."

Whereas


https://www.caclubindia.com/experts/taxability-of-stipend-401315.asp - "IT SAYS THAT IT IS TAXABLE UNDER IOS....."


Plz help........ :-(

16 June 2010 the post in experts read as

"If the Stipend granted is for furthering education or gaining knowledge , same can be claimed exempt u/s 10[16] of the Income tax Act, 1961." which is not the fact which is discussed in the forum and hence the same is taxable.
