My brother has been working as Chef in Qatar as Chef in a hotel from 19th Aug 2022. It is first time he is working abroad.
Will his salary taxable in India ?
Please guide...

27 April 2023 For FY 2022-23, he became NRI as per Indian income tax act, hence his Qatar salary will not be taxable in India.

From Qatar he is send some amount of money to my mother's account.
What will be the effect of this transection? Will any question can be asked from my mothers for source of fund?

27 April 2023 Sir, As I go through below mentioned conditions, my brother is not meeting 1st condition but he is meeting 2nd condition as he was in India in last 4 preceding years before of last FY. Please clarify this

A taxpayer would qualify as a resident of India if he satisfies one of the following 2 conditions :

1. Stay in India for a year is 182 days or more or

2. Stay in India for the immediately 4 preceding years is 365 days or more and 60 days or more in the relevant financial year

27 April 2023 The query may be raised but the amount is not taxable, as per blood relation between son & mother.

27 April 2023 The second condition has a provision of 120 days when left for employment, and his Indian income exceeding Rs. 15 lakhs. If the condition is breached, the aggregate income would be taxable in India; otherwise not.
