Pls tell me the What are all Statutory provisions and Tax Liability of Newspaper Publishers (i.e., Evening news paper)
1.Is service Tax applicable on the advertisement publishing in News paper
2. Vat applicable
3. what are the statutory compliance?

For a news paper publisher no Service Tax is applicable as the publishing house is selling News Paper
They Collect Advertisements on which service tax is applicable and TDS is also applicable.
The vendors render services and they charge service tax which can be adjusted against collection of service tax on advertisement
For wrong news published they are liable for defamation suits
They are required to register themselves for paper quota and circulation certificate is required.
They have to be a part of the Newspaper association and press bureau
Other expenses and income are as applicable to general business including audit under IT Act, ST Act etc.
