25 September 2009 Could someone advise urgently what is the procedure to e-file tax audit return without having pan number.. we dont want to incur any penalty.. We have applied for pan number today and the number is not expected to arrive before due date of 30 th septement

25 September 2009 PAN is a must for filing e return.

You may intimate the fact that due to non receipt of PAN, you are unable to file the return by 30th Sep to your AO.

Such an intimation will prove that, there was reasonable cause for not filing the return and would absolve of penal consequences.
