TAN Number

11 December 2010 I am having a TAN number and i am not deducting TDS from some time so i need to file NIL TDS return nor m expecting to deduct in near future so can i continue of having TAN number or do i need to surrender the same or intimate the department about the same. also suggest me the section regarding the same.

11 December 2010 No need to file NIL return. File return whenever there is any TDS deduction.

11 December 2010 Filing of NIL return is necessary only for Form 24Q (TDS on Salaries) last quarter in case any salary paid. Filing of NIL return is also necessary if you have made payments to transporter on which no TDS deducted, as the details of such payments are required to be intimated via quarterly TDS return.
