07 May 2015 Public Company can be a subsidiary of Private company?
If yes, then status of public company remains as public company or private company?

09 May 2015 Yes, Public company can be a subsidiary of Private Co. But it does not mean that it will private company. It will remain as Public company for all the purposes.

11 May 2015 Because by virtue of its incorporation/articles and memorandum, it will remain a public company.

Law does not have any logic. It is purely an interpretation. you should stick to the definition of Public Co. If it does not mention anything about pubic company (being subsidiary of private company), then obviously it can not be termed as a private limited company.
