How to select a stock? Which are the stock valuation methods?How to interpret the results

The following are the major criterias of selecting a stock :
1. Industry in which it is working. If industry is hot; good results are expected within a short period of time. 3 years back the investment made in Construction Companies have fatched decent returns.
2. Promoters' image in the public according to their performance.
3. Regular Dividend History.
4. Right/Bonus Issue History.
5. Long standing in the business.
6. Foreign Listing.
7. Exports
8. Import substitute production.
9. Growth pattern of the company in previous years.
10. Social Responsibility undertaken by the company like ITC.
11. Professional management like HDFC.
12. Litigation pending affecting the business.
13. Overall market scenario.
14. Good monsoon.
15. Political situation
and so on..........
