stamping of share certificate

11 May 2010 I need to pay Stampy duty of Rs 2700 on allotment of share certificates in Delhi. Pls let me know whether it is mandatory to go for consolidated stamp duty or adhesive stamp on separate sheet would suffice?

13 May 2010 Either would suffice. However, payment of consolidated stamp duty on specimen certificate is the preferred practice.

13 May 2010 Thanks for your reply Rasesh. I would like to inform you that the correct way is to go for consolidated stamping through collector of stamps. I have confirmed it. So do follow this procedure in future.

But it is not required to be through the collector of stamps. Routing it through the collector of stamps or revenue department is required when adjudication is an issue. In Gujarat, the preferred way is payment of consolidated stamp duty on specimen share certificate and avoiding the hassles of dealing with an authority.

13 May 2010 I am not aware of procedures in Gujarat. In delhi we need to follow this procedure only. It is through SDM at Tiz Hazari court. Will keep you posted.
