Stamp Duty on Affidavit Executed in USA.

25 August 2022 I will execute an Affidavit from USA and send the papers to India, will arrange to pay stamp duty within 3 months. I have my postal address in Gujarat and the RTA in Maharastra.

Please guide whether I attract the stamp duty per Gujrat (Rs 20) or Maharastra (Rs 100).

I have to execute about 15 such documents,

26 August 2022 As per my experience, as you will sign & execute the documents at US and deliver it at Mumbai; So, stamp duty as per Maharashtra act will be applicable.
Our advocate team mate may enlighten more on the legal aspect.

2. I will request a friend of mine foe help. Could you please guide where or which office should he approach for payment of stamp duty? One friend is in Malad and one in Ville Parle.

29 August 2022 As such now stamp duty is paid by e-franking, some of the banks also frank it.. So, let them decide whichever nearby office/bank suits either of them. Let them also confirm when to perform e-franking, as generally, it is to be franked first, and then signed.
