25 June 2008 what is stamp duty?on wat it is applicable...
is it the amt of stamp paper which we use or purchase for some purposes?or other than the amt of stamp paper...if i purchase a stamp paper of rs 100,i;e i have paid rs 100 stamp duty?WHAT IS THE CRITERIA FOR APPLYING THE STAMP DUTY?

stamp duty is the amount paid to the respective government of the state for transactions as per that states stamp act.

stamp duty can be paid to the authorities by way of purchasing stamp papers or by paying in respective area's sub-registrars office for which we get acknowledgement by reciept

normaly for real estate transactions these stamp duty will be paid amount will be fixed by stamp act.

we cannot apply for stamp duty, we need to remit the amount towards the duty as per the regualations of respective state government
