02 February 2013 my friend is owning a brand name and avails ssi exemption on his clearances. his friend's company wants to market the product. So asks him to lease the brand name and also supply the goods to him availing ssi exemption. is he legally right in doing this. Will leasing the brand name to the customer make my friend ineligible for ssi exemption under the clause ' manufacture of another's brand name'. please advise.

As long as your friend is owner of brand he can claim SSI benefits..

By leasing brand ownership doesnt get trfd. to another person.
