A GST Practitioner with three years of experience is seeking clarification on whether they can file Income Tax Returns and sign them on behalf of clients. While filing is possible, the consensus is that a GST Practitioner cannot sign financial statements or act as an authorised agent for Income Tax Returns unless they fall under the specific categories listed in Section 288(2) of the Income Tax Act, 1961.

No. As per IT act ..... Section 288(2) of Income Tax Act, 1961 there are Eight Categories of Persons eligible to act as Authorized Representatives for & on behalf of the Income Tax Payers/Assessees, So check that.
