Short Term Profit Received from Sale of Equity Shares

This query is : Resolved

Quick Summary
A self-employed individual filing ITR-4 received a short-term capital gain of Rs. 94,079 from selling equity shares. They are seeking clarification on whether this income should be reported under 'Income from Other Sources' or in another specific column within the ITR-4 form. An expert suggests that due to the Automatic Information Report (AIR) reflecting equity sales, filing an ITR-3 might be a more appropriate approach.

27 July 2023 I am a self - employed person. I have Business Income. I have filed ITR-4. I have received Short Term Profit/Short Term Gain of Rs. 94079/- from Sale of Equity Shares of Listed Companies in FY 2022-23. Can I show this Short Term profit in Head "Income from Other Sources" or Not? Give Your Expert Opinion. Or Please Tell me in which column above Short Term Profit will be shown in ITR-4?

27 July 2023 The equity sale having short term capital gain gets reflected in AIR report, so better file ITR3.

12 September 2024 Good Luck.
