Short Term Capital Gains

Please provide me the information about short term capital gains. Is it taxable or not? If yes then what is the rate of tax?

30 May 2011 Short Term Capital Gains means gains on the transactions on assets which are held for less than 36 months (3 years). The gains are chargeable at normal rates.

In case of Shares and securities, the gains on shares and securities which are held for less than 12 months are treated as short term assets and the gains from such transactions are taxed at special Rates. Presently @15%
