Shares acquired for no consideration

If a company got shares in another company for zero consideration, wat will be the accounting entry for that? i.e., shares can be shown on Investment side, but corresponding amount where to be shown?

You can show only ASSET SIDE in investment side, with out value and mentioning the fact that the same has been acquired on free of cost.
