27 July 2012 Is doctors whose gross receipts exceeds 10L during the FY:2011-12 liable to pay service tax.

27 July 2012 Yes, he has to register as and when gross receipts exceeds 9 lacs and pay service tax on amount exceeding 10 lacs, for the first year and from 2nd year from the starting receipts cz doctors are professional who are giving services.

27 July 2012 What my doubt is as doctors are providing basic necessities to people,is it covered under service tax.As charging service tax will increase the cost of treament.

27 July 2012 Still the medical service is covered under service tax ambit and if the amount exceeded the exemption limit, then ST liability will arise.
