i am working as independent management consultant and total service turnover is 6 lacs for 2011-12. is there need to register under service tax rule and file service tax return ?

Hi
There is a basic exemption of 10 lakh rupees in a financial year vide notification 8/2008-ST dated 1.3.2008 effect from 01.05.2008
hence if reach near to 9 lakh get regsiter under ST
