From the financial year 2019-2020, UK homeowners can now declare up to two properties as self-occupied when filing their income tax returns. Any additional properties owned will be treated as let out for tax purposes under the Income Tax Act, 1961. This change was introduced by the Finance Act 2019.

From the FY 2019-20, a homeowner can claim his 2 properties as self-occupied and remaining house as let out under the Income tax act, 1961 while filing the IT Return.
