I forfeited Rent Security deposit for Rs. 100000/- becuase property vacant before the date of contract date.
Question:- Should income taxable in income under house property and i can claim standard deduction
Please provide the section under which i can calculate tax. provide any case laws also

firstly, set off the rent security dopiest to the months vacant under the income from house property, then remaining amount to be taxed under the head income from other sources.

You have to treat the SD against rent as rent and the tax is to be calculated on the same as if you have received the rent.
