27 November 2014 my simple question is that can we submit EP copy of SB in place of Exchange control copy of SB

27 November 2014 IF ED is available, no any such question of LOSS of certificate/copy arises. Therefore, I asked....
IF ED is not available, ask for the duplicate copy of EC.
EP is accepted by promotion agencies.

28 November 2014 what is ED
can we submit EP copy in bank in absence of exchange control copy

23 July 2025 Sure! Here's a quick clarification:

* **EP copy** means **Export Promotion copy** (often related to export documents).
* **Exchange Control copy of SB** refers to the **Exchange Control copy of Shipping Bill**, which is used by banks for foreign exchange and regulatory compliance.

### Your question:

**Can EP copy of SB be submitted to the bank if Exchange Control copy of SB is not available?**

---

### Typical RBI / Banking practice:

* The **Exchange Control copy of the Shipping Bill** is generally required by the bank to process export-related transactions under FEMA and RBI regulations.
* The **EP copy** is sometimes accepted by banks, especially for internal records or in certain circumstances, but **officially Exchange Control copy is preferred and required.**

---

### If Exchange Control copy is lost or unavailable:

* You should request a **duplicate Exchange Control copy** from the Customs department.
* Banks usually **do not accept EP copy as a full substitute** for Exchange Control copy unless a specific circular or RBI notification allows it.

---

### On your question about RBI circular:

* No standard RBI circular allows EP copy as a substitute for Exchange Control copy.
* You may check with the **specific bankโ€™s forex department or customs authority** for their policy.
* Also, the **Export Promotion Councils may accept EP copy for their records**, but banks need Exchange Control copy for forex formalities.

---

**Summary:**

* Best to get the **Exchange Control copy** or its duplicate from customs.
* EP copy alone usually **cannot fully replace Exchange Control copy** for bank submission.

If you want, I can help draft a formal request letter to customs for a duplicate Exchange Control copy or check any recent RBI circulars. Would you like me to do that?
